Well, what a rubbish year 2020 was! Certainly for my family and I’m sure many, many others the uncertainty of the year lead to real problems. By June 2020 both myself and my daughter started to struggle with our mental health, anxiety took hold of us both and by early 2021 my daughter had been through 6 hospital admissions and was extremely ill. Unable to be left alone she became my shadow, with a 35 year age gap it was hard to fill our time with a mutual interest, she has always been really sporty whereas I prefer a much more laid back lifestyle! That’s where crafting came in. It’s something we can do together to pass the time – which during lockdowns, was a lot of time stuck in the house. By April we had exhausted our supplies and spent a small fortune on craft kits……then the lightbulb moment! Let’s get ready for Christmas (it was April!) haha! We began designing and making baubles to begin with and so My Handmade Christmas was born!
Crafting is such a great way to help your mind “switch off” and escape from the everyday. Concentrating on the task in hand lets your mind focus on that and stop overthinking, even just for a little while it’s a chance to be more mindful. The worries and stresses that life can impose on us are washed away, along with the overthinking and fear. Certainly for us anyway. Our boxes would be great to do a a project with a loved one or a friend, or just to give yourself some time that you so deserve to switch off from the world for a bit.
There’s no time constraints, you can do as little or as much as you want of each project at a time, although if you’re anything like me you won’t want to wait to see your finished masterpiece! We know that life is busy, so you don’t need to dedicate hours and hours of time each month. We’ll be around to help you along the way inside out members’ Facebook community.

As a family we would love to give something back to the amazing charities that help families like ours, that’s why for every 20 boxes sold we will donate a box that may just help a child/young adult escape their worries at least for a little while. Each month we would love our customers to nominate a Local Charity that could benefit from a donation.
The boxes are suitable for complete novices and experienced crafters alike, teaching a whole host of different crafts from macrame to acrylic pouring,
Let’s get Christmas wrapped up! I can’t wait to see your finished projects.
